IS A HOT ATTIC REALLY A PROBLEM? Many wonder, “Is the temperature in my attic bad for my home?” In short, the answer is YES! An unventilated attic can reach 150 degrees in the heat of summer -- 50 degrees higher than it should be. An overheated attic can bake asphalt shingles on the roof and cause them to deteriorate. The wood framing your roof can also get warped from hot, humid air, possibly leading it to cave in. Mold and mildew can also set in, posing health risks. And it can cause your air conditioner to work harder than it needs to and send your energy bills soaring with the temperature.
How hot is too hot? What is the best way to achieve cooler air in your attic, especially during summer? Tune in to our podcast to find out!
